Service Technician I

POSITION SUMMARY

The Service Tech Level 1 serves customers through an ongoing maintenance relationship. The STL4 role is the face of IMS and is a high-growth position in our organization. This role will leverage experience to perform preventative maintenance tasks on HVAC equipment along with problem solving, troubleshooting, communicating with the client and providing solutions for repairing their HVAC Systems. The STL4 role has an opportunity to impact customers' businesses through the work performed, serving both the efficiency goals of clients in alignment with organizational goals; allowing the STL4 to take on more responsibility with the organization.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE
  • Perform maintenance of HVAC Equipment (Package, Split System, Energy efficiency equipment)
  • Troubleshoot with basics understanding of multiple mechanical system types: Refrigeration cycle and components, Hot water systems (pumps), Variable refrigerant flow, Air distribution systems
  • Troubleshoot with basic understanding multiple electrical system types: High voltage, Low voltage, Variable frequency drives
  • Provide recommendations of repairs needed to clients
  • Ensure all activities are completed according to the agreed upon service plan ‚óŹ Perform basic HVAC repairs and recommend cost saving benefits of proactive preventative maintenance
  • Provide written information to client to gain repair approvals
  • Ensure all safety requirements are being met throughout the project, and review as needed with Safety Manager
  • Work extended shifts and run after-hours calls on rotating schedule
  • Maintain accurate truck stock levels and appropriate tool requirements
KEY COMPETENCIES
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to be successful in this role but are not necessarily all inclusive.
  • Basic understanding of electrical controls, system troubleshooting, and schematics of refrigeration cycle and components
  • Basic knowledge of chiller systems, refrigeration, heat pump, pumps, oilers, VRF, VFD’s, VAV’s, system design, duct systems, electrical controls, equipment up to 12.5 Tons
  • Experience successfully maintaining a positive attitude while working in a team environment with competing priorities
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office Suite, Windows, Google Suite
  • Ability to think critically, in the assessment of situations that will help team move forward
  • Great communication abilities to convey information to client and office staff
  • Maintain professional relationships with leadership, engineers, and worksite teams
  • Organizational and administrative accountability for results
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to think individually as well as collaboratively
  • Ability to read, interpret, and execute safety measures, procedure manuals, and written correspondence
  • Self-starter/Excellent work ethic

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) Required
  • Certificate of completion from a HVAC Technical School
  • Entry Level HVAC experience
  • Universal EPA Certification
  • Current State Driver’s License & Clean Driving Record required
  • Background check (Required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers, reach, talk, hear, climb, stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • Ability to be on rotational On Call
  • Ability to work overtime (weekends)
  • Requires ability to occasionally lift up to 50lbs
  • Position may require travel to and from field sites
